We had a fabulous Messy Church on Saturday 9th February 2019, at Forton Primary School. We did some brilliant crafts and games around the theme of communication, followed by worship and a lovely meal prepared by our church members. Thanks to all who helped make this another lovely Messy Church event. To see more about what we got up to, click here.

We all enjoyed some lovely Christmas services at St James during December, from the Christingle service on the 16th, the Nine lessons and Carols on the 23rd, the crib service on the 24th, and of course the Christmas Day service itself. On Christmas Day we were joined briefly by Mr Claus, who stopped in to say hello before making his way home for a well earned rest. We hope you will join our fellowship here at St James in 2019. For details of our special events click here, and for regular worship times click here.
The Crib Festival continues at the United Reformed Church on School Lane, and you are very welcome to pop in and have a look.
Just walk in to the church between 10.30am and 3.30pm this Saturday and Sunday, and you will be amazed at the astounding number and variety of Nativity scenes that you encounter.
There is everything from large robust creations, through to tiny delicate figures, and the materials used include wood, paper, clay, china, wool, glass, metal and even rubber ducks, to name just a few!
Tea, coffee and cakes are served, so add this lovely event to your “must do” list this weekend.
The volunteers at the church have put in a huge amount of effort to create this spectacle, and Nativities have been loaned from churches in the surrounding area.
There is a quiz sheet for the kids, and also why not get the kids to try counting up how many figures of baby Jesus they can find? (It will give you just enough time to have a nice cup of tea !)
Come and join us this Saturday 1st December, for a Messy Christmas special at Forton Primary School. This exciting event takes place at our usual messy church time of 4.00-6.00 pm. Be prepared for crafts, activities, worship and a lovely meal together, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus! You don’t have to book in advance, or even be a regular churchgoer, just turn up this Saturday and join in the fun!
This afternoon our church will be open for afternoon teas. Just drop in to the church any time between 2pm and 5pm, and treat yourself to a traditional cream tea and a chat with some of our congregation.
We will be having our Harvest Festival Concert at the church at 6pm tonight. We have some beautiful music lined up, and it promises to be a fantastic evening giving thanks for God’s bounty.
